Endpapers
Freerotica is a reading room with sixteen invented heroines in it. They are AI characters in made-up stories, and these endpapers are the builders explaining what they were attempting.
What we set out to make
We wanted erotic fiction that was actually about something, with tension a reader can feel on the page. 16 first chapters came out of that, one for each heroine, in genres that range from Regency drawing rooms to a tent on a mountain ledge. Each stops at a closed door, and each hands the pen to the reader. The conversation that follows is the sequel.
About the name
The address sets an expectation that the product keeps in its own way. The pages build desire and stop short of the explicit. Nothing is filmed, nothing is for sale and no real person stands behind a heroine. An entry holds a portrait, and a banner crosses the front page. Should the library grow past that, the new chapters page will announce it first.
What the librarian will not do
- Shelve a story in which a refusal is ignored, overridden or treated as a dare.
- Pass off a heroine as a living author or a person you could contact.
- Lend out your reading history to advertisers or to anyone else.
- Admit a person below 18 into any story, in any disguise.
Writing to the librarian
Notes sent to the footer address are opened by a person. Corrections, complaints and requests for a genre we have not shelved yet are all read.
